OVERARCHING RESEARCH QUESTION:

What will motivate female students to become more actively involved in Practical PD/H/PE and as a result in Lifelong physical activity? Developing these skills early in the student’s development.

Due to the alarming levels of obesity in children and adolescents (Data analysis of three recent cross-sectional surveys by Dr Michael Booth from the Centre for the Advancement of Adolescent Health at the Royal Alexandra Hospital for Children indicates that approximately 25% of Australian children and adolescents are currently overweight or obese) and the general decline in physical activity activity levels in girls from puberty onwards, it is important to try and promote a school environment that addresses these issues.

As you can see from the Overarching research question the purpose of this Learning project is to firstly gather information related to adolescents physical activity levels (eg. motivational factors) and secondly to act on this through alterations to PE lesson's, introduction of in and out of school physical activity programs to promote physical activity etc..
